The Capital of Delhi has a big history of several empires. The earliest architectural relics date back to the Maurya Period(c. 300 BC); since then, Emperor Ashoka (273-236BC) was discovered near Srinivaspur. The famous Iron Pillar near the Qutub Minar was commissioned by the emperor. In 12 century Delhi had been the seat of Islamic and British rulers until India's independence in 1947. Humayun's tomb was built in the year1570.It looks like the Taj Mahal which is situated in Agra.One of the reasons that it looks like the Taj Mahalis that it is inspired by it. It was the first type of Mughal architecture that was made in India. The tomb was built by instructions of Humayun's widow Hamida Banu Begum. Qutub Minar is the place which cannot be left without visited on your Delhi tour. It is the biggest brick minaret in the entire world. The architect ture of this famous monument includes the mixture of Indo-Islamic structural design. It is located in south Delhi.The monument is 72.5 meters high and it also has 399 steps which will take you to the top of the Minar. The pillars of Qutub Minar are 7 meters high and they weigh more than six tons.
